If you want to make 'up' pertain to a grid, then at least please use a pseudo-isometric perspective where the 'up' direction is more like 30 degrees so that it's intuitive. This game would have been better if you had to press two directional keys to go diagonally. I've tried to play this a couple times over the last decade, and that's always ruined it for me.

It's manageable but the clunkiness is complete unnecessary and the lack of a jumping button turns me off.
