A ball that has been hit has to be retrieved, in a similar way to baseball, while the batting team have to run between the wickets to score points/runs. If the batter hits the ball out of bounds, and the ball has touched the ground, all runs are cancelled and instead the batting team get a static 4 runs, if the ball goes out of bounds with out hitting the ground same rules apply but with 6 runs. The major rules are hard to explain; like leg before wicket. It's an amazing game really, it's somehow even more boring than baseball... astonishing.
