I like Yume Nikki, but the "horror" aspect is pretty light. It's a lot of wandering around, and
you kind of have to be in the right type of mood to enjoy it.
The ongoing fangame project Yume 2kki has a lot more content and was more interesting overall,
imo. Another fangame, .flow, has a more focused theme and more disturbing imagery, if that's what
you're after. They're all worth checking out at least.

I played Yume 2kki 3 years ago. I liked exploring in it but actively trying to seek out effects
was a pain in the arse because of how detached and unfinished a lot of things were. I just
checked and it has been updated quite a bit. Can't wait to check it out when I have some free
time.
Also, .flow is fucking great.
