They do this for a couple reasons:
1. They don't have anything else to eat
2. Cats will eat dead kittens in their nest to keep it clean

I had 2 cats got them as brothers in like 2009
As soon as I started letting them outside they grew up much faster and I saw them less and less
but they never went far, I'd hear them fucking up other neighbourhood cats mm well that's all
beside the point
So after like 5 years one got killed by a car.
didn't know what to do kept the body in the basement for like a day.
Other cat started suspecting shit scratching at the basement door and that
Buried dead cat.
Didn't see living cat for like 5 days but he came back. Just slept in my bed for a few months.
Only really went out to shit he'd be at the door a few minutes after going out.
He's alright now just stays in most of the day anyways
