It's kinda fun to see people experiencing and enjoying things for the first time, especially
  stuff we take for granted.

But yeah, at the same time, pretty sad that their relationship with the buyers is so impersonal
that they had no idea what the beans are used for.

I hate to sound like a redditfag, but I wouldn't put these guys in the same group as dindus in
Europe/America who take everything they have for granted and still beg for more.

A black man in America wouldn't last a day in Africa, no matter how "hard" he is.

Yeah but also, if the economy is going to grow, economic actors have to have longer and more
complicated relationships with each other. Two participants in the world economy, not
  understanding each other, is inevitable.

You call it 'impersonal', but I call it 'trusting'. You trust your peer to their own business. If
everything had to be 'personal', then no one would get much of anything done. Productivity would
  collapse.

trust? there's no trust here, just a lack of understanding and caring. the farmer doesn't care
what his harvest is used for because he doesn't have the luxury of questioning, inquiring or
caring. it pays, and so he harvests to feed his family. the broker also doesn't care , and he
doesn't need to trust, since he knows these people need the money so they'll do it.

a man harvests a plant that is used to make one of the most well-known, loved and widely used
sweets on earth and yet he's never even seen the final product, he doesn't even know it comes
from what he harvests. if you don't think there's a problem with this then you've got some issues.

  Everyone needs to see this.
And this is why we need international socialism.
You think taxing speculation is just about curbing wall st power and fixing the economy, it's
also about putting an end to bs like this. Never forget.

That's weird... when I spent a few months in Ghana a couple years ago, you could occasionally buy
chocolate bars on the cheat at local gas stations. They were fairly abundant, and Ghana is right
  next to the Ivory Coast.

Well, frankly, a 'lack of understanding' is inherent to trust. I dont truly trust someone if I
require them to explain everything to me. Trust is established when you take peoples word for
what it is. If you constantly doubt or question what someone says or thinks, you dont trust them.

When the farmer and broker dont need to know about each others activity, they are trusting each
other. If the farmer of the broker needed some better understanding of each others role in the
  economy, they would be distrustful.
