Let me be clear here. Most of the garbage in current "modern art museums" is just that. Garbage.
That is why if I were to make do as you say I could not call it art. Modern art comes forth from
a desire to create in a unique way, not to "make a statement" like many modern artists attempt to
do today.

I remember seeing someone going into some sort of art exhibit. Two of the ones I remember are: A
shovel on a string; and some wood on the ground. I'm never going to claim to know what good art
is, but I would judge anyone who says those count as anything resembling art.

some shit and hung a bunch of different colored lightbulbs and she turned out the lights and the
light refracted and it felt like you were in space walking among the stars... i didn't describe

I accept your point, using new mediums to create art is extremely important - look at film and
animation.
but there are very few examples of modern art that would compare to the juggernauts of old, don't
you think?
His point is that he wants to encourage art to be of the absolute highest quality, and museums
should be doing everything in their power to display art that is worthy of outlasting our next
few generations.

Theres lots of new modern shit that could be drawn now but not back then.
Modern artists just don't want to learn how to actually make art (high talent painter/sculptor
etc...) so they just shit on a bible and let everyone look at how edgy they are.
