This video is of Elisa Lam.
A young Chinese Canadian woman of 21 years old who was on a vacation in the United States.
She was visiting a few different places on her trip (including Las Vegas) but at the time of this
video she was in Los Angeles staying at the Cecil Hotel.
This elevator footage was taken at 12:00am midnight the day before she was supposed to checkout
and leave the hotel.
Earlier that day she was spotted at a book store and the owner said that she had bought gifts to
bring back to her parents and spoke with him in a normal manner and did not appear in poor mood.
Lisa did have bipolar disorder and had suffered from depression and other mental issues in recent
years prior to this fatal incident.
The day after this footage was recorded the hotel staff entered her room due to her failing to
check out and found all her belongings still there.
Her parents concerned over the fact that their daughter did not call them as she did on a daily
basis contacted the police who started a thorough search. They found nothing except this odd
elevator footage from the night before her disappearance.
Weeks later residents of the Hotel complained of poor water pressure and dark, discolored water.
A handyman was sent to the roof where he discovered inside one of the hotels 2 large water tanks
Lisa's already badly decomposed body floating face-up in the water.
To this day it is still a sad mystery.
What do you think happened?

Yeah.
The tank despite being quite tall and only accessible using a ladder has a heavy sealed lid that
weighs 20-30+ lbs.
The idea that a weak looking woman like her could in the dark of night somehow find a ladder on
the roof, get ontop of the tank, remove the heavy lid, get inside and then somehow seal the lid
back on once she was inside seems a bit questionable.
Also I don't think bi-polar disorder is the same as schizophrenia and she was on medication for
it.
Granted I believe she may have went out to a bar or something earlier that day so she might have
gotten drunk or done a drug... who knows but this idea that she was just insane or regularly had
mental breakdowns doesn't seem accurate based on the reporting of her recent life and personality.
She seems fairly stable for the most part and was out book shopping earlier that day for gifts.

Oh and I would add that a truly unstable person probably wouldn't be taking a big vacation which
she spoke excitedly of before the start.
She visited multiple places across the USA.
If you can barely keep your shit together you wouldn't be doing that.
I like better the theory that she got drunk and it interacted badly with one of her medications
or she took a drug/got drugged but again I suppose it is also theoretically possible that she
just randomly had a breakdown the night before she was supposed to move on with her vacation and
leave that area... can't rule it out.

Eh.
With the context behind the video it is pretty creepy.
She got inside or was put inside the tank literally right after that video was recorded or at the
very least sometime in the next few hours following the video.

She repeatedly pressed the hold elevator button which automatically keeps the door open for a
full 2 minutes before closing (in that particular elevator).

iirc the door to the roof and to the tank needed keys, also she removed all her clothes, so maybe
someone didn't lock up at night and she tried skinny dipping but didn't think ahead how to get
back out....

>iirc the door to the roof and to the tank needed keys
You can also access the roof through that top floors fire escape which I don't think is difficult
to do and we also can't say if the roof door was locked or not (thats just pure speculation even
if the building claimed it was).
I also wasn't aware the tank needed keys but I doubt they would leave a water tank open if only
because that would allow outside sediments to potentially fall in and clog it and because well
water tanks probably aren't typically messed with that often so you'd expect them to be closed
and left closed.
I don't think it is a that would would opened frequently.

The orginal post on creepypasta doesn't mention that keys were needed. Just that she was found in
there, and 20-30 pounds is not really that heavy, it can be awkward to lift but thats it. She had
mental issues and commited suicide.
