Everything in this world is pretty much a scam.
This story is a great example of how someone with nothing but bad intentions brainwashes and
controls masses of people.
It's not just McAfee though, pretty much all the big anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-spyware etc.
companies have all had a part to play in this huge money making scheme.
As soon as they realized how easy it was to infect technological devices/systems and how easy it
was to scare people they started making all this "necessary" software.
Little did anyone know that the majority of viruses were made by the very same people who made
the anti-virus software.
It's no coincidence, nearly every "bad" thing that affects us today which also has a "cure" where
the person offering the cure is getting paid - it's more than likely a scam.
