My theology is rusty, but the gist of it is that humans are inherently sinful due to the original
sin, and the death of Christ is atonement for the original sin. Christ being God and his death
being part of a divine plan, it follows that God is solely responsible for the salvation of
humanity, and before this fact all good works are meaningless.
