No one that isn't an idiot said that Hillary was the first woman to run for President.
What they did say was that she was the first woman to be nominated to be the presidential
candidate for a major political party, which is true.
Victoria Woodhull ran on the Equal Rights Party which was a literal nobody third party, much like
the Green Party. And considering that description of how terribly she did in the election, I'd
say even the Green Party will get more votes this year than she did that year.
I don't even think she was actually "nominated". She probably just showed up to the party
headquarters and they just let her run on their ticket. Fuck if I know how elections worked back
then.
