The reason why guys now tend to have higher pitched voices now is down to one thing primarily.
Smoking.
People who smoke habitually or who started young are more likely to have deeper, more gravelly
voices. Now that more and more young people are quitting smoking or never started, more guys have
lighter, higher voices because that's what their voices were supposed to sound like in the first
place.
