seems Chrome has caught up to Firefox...
been 6 months now that FF disrespects my MIME type content handler settings, and tries to save a
flash file instead of opening it in the browser.
Never could find a fix, or even a mention of this behavior on the web.

Just tried it on Chrome, just updated Flash player, everything works as expected.

>> [_] Anonymous 12/19/16(Mon)13:19:21 No.3191043

Is there a way to stop Chrome from updating?

If mine updates and does this, I might just have to browse /f/ on IE.

  >>3190989

using chrome is bad. you're giving the company that almost controls everything we do on the
internet more power. it's like using steam and then complaining when they do weird stuff like
trying to ruin modding, who is it that give them that power?

That world map doesn't really tell much, you know. Just what's most use in each country. Look
  here instead:
  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_browser#Market_share

  Firefox: 15%
  Opera: Less than 2%

this is why I hate statistics
the green may mean that 51% uses chrome and 49% uses firefox
since majority uses chrome the country is portrayed green which is a bullshit way to interpret
  any statistics

  >>3191097
wait, disregard that, i suck cock. for some reason I read your post as "somewhat equal to Opera".

the world map is still misleading though, looking on at that it looks like Chrome is at 90% and
Firefox is a lot less than 15%.

  Disable Pepper Flash in Chrome.

Look in chrome://flags/, I am sure there is a way to disable the shitty Flash handling.

  If not:
  download chromium
switch to a browser that respects the freedom of intelligent people and not cowering down to the
  retarded masses.
Fork Chromium and tell Google to go fucking die in every thread on the Google Group. Especially
Ben. Fuck Ben. What a cunt. He is the reason we have no sidebar in Chromium. He killed the
Sidebar API in its alpha despite not working on any of it. Fuck you Ben. Die.

  >>3191098
Yeah, I'm aware it's probably second place everywhere green. That's still a huge difference from
what I expected it to look like.
  >>3191097
Well that's even worse, I thought it would be a lesser difference than 62 vs 15.

>> [_] Anonymous 12/19/16(Mon)16:40:28 No.3191107

  >>3191097
  Chrome: 62.55%
  Firefox: 15.00%
  IE: 10.73%
  Safari: 4.75%
  Edge: 3.01%
  Opera: 1.75%

I kind of suspect Chrome is so big because they also count Android browsers, which uses a version
of Chrome by default? Since almost nobody cares which browser they have on their phone the
default stays (and Google grows stronger).

>> [_] totally legit 100% fresh squeezed moot 12/19/16(Mon)16:40:42 No.3191108

  >>3191104
Wait, it is in the settings page actually.
  Enable Flash by default.

I sure hope you are browsing Flash on a sandboxed browser not used for general browsing. Flash is
  easily exploitable, hence the blocking.

hm, says it doesn't include smartphones. though i wonder how easy it is to distinguish desktop
chrome from android chrome, there's even a built-in option to pretend to be a desktop browser
(for those that doesnt like mobile versions of websites)

>> [_] Anonymous 12/19/16(Mon)16:50:14 No.3191115

also all those TV operating systems that have a chrome browser, how easy is it to tell those
  apart from desktop chrome?

the statistics is a little old, wonder what it is right now.

  also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StatCounter
  >StatCounter is used on 3% of all websites.
that's not really a huge amount of data. would be more interesting if wikipedia collected their
  own browser stats

Chrome at 73.8% at that website last month, it's a fairly big site. Firefox still at 15%. I

If you're using GNU/Linux, then try this maybe? I know it says Firefox but I had this problem
  with Chrome too once

  http://askubuntu.com/questions/478169/why-cant-firefox-run-local-swf-files

  Just edit /usr/share/mime/packages/freedesktop.org.xml

  Then replace <mime-type type="application/vnd.adobe.flash.movie">

  with

  <mime-type type="application/x-shockwave-flash">

  Then run

  sudo update-mime-database /usr/share/mime
