I can't play flashes such as this that I've saved locally to my collection, as the context menu
lacks the typical items for controlling playback. Is there a workaround for this?

I've been noticing this from time to time as well. Sometimes it turns out that they only don't
work in Chrome, and I can pull it back up by opening it in IE or Firefox or whatever.

Download the Flash Player Projector. Solved my problem. I was having the same issue.
