we've waited for NMS for 3 years and he delivered
we've waited for TLG for 7 years and they delivered
surely Gabe will deliver too
we'll just need to wait a little bit longer

except gabe isn't the least bit emotional about half-life like fry is over his dog. gabe is a
cold, calculating son-of-a-bitch that only cares about money at this point. i dont trust valve
further than i can throw it and i cant really throw a company anywhere. steam needs to be taken
down a peg, they already think they can do whatever they want. all the blind loyalty needs to
stop.

Something enormous needs to occur for steam to get taken down a peg.
It's basically the facebook of vidya, and until something extreme or an option that is infinitely
better shows up its gonna stay the same.

What would a better option look like
Not asking someone to come up with the next big thing right here, just what criteria would it
have to meet
What do people want from this specifically besides not sucking balls

-solid search function
Right now steam's search sucks ass. If you know the title of a game, great, but if you're trying
with the tagging, sort by price, ect. you can hardly find shit.
-a better search function for your library
you can categorize games and search by title, but that's it
-more vetting for greenlight
self-explanitory. There's currently some people who make bullshit games that take no effort to
create and are awful. They just push it onto that platform in order to make money.
-pre-purchase, early access and possibly dlc
This has gotten ridiculous, you should not be selling vaporware in a reputable business
-market requirements
From what I remember a few years ago, steam had a large market that was easy to make trades in;
however, it now requires you to verify via a phone number otherwise the trade/market listing has
to wait for 15 days. Not advocating for a market like this, but if you have one, waiting half a
month to trade virtual trinkets it too long.
-third party applications
If it's going to be comparable in popularity to steam, it should at the very least track hours
played in third party shortcuts.
-deals to add bots or provide players for games that have multiplayer elements
One of the most disappointing and risky thing about buying a game that is only multiplayer is if
there is nobody else playing. It could be a smart business move to provide employees or
incentivising your customers to play multiplayer modes of games proportinate to how empty it is
in order to keep the multiplayer scene alive. Again quality control of the games that this is
done on is important, you probably wouldn't want to give a lot of money away to people who play
multiplayer games that are not popular for a reason, something like Pajama Sam, or on ones that
already have a playerbase such as TF2.
