Post-9/11, modern plane cockpit doors are set up in such a way that they're practically like a
vault door. Also once they're locked from the inside, they can't be unlocked from the outside.
This was designed to prevent hijackings by passengers, but as a consequence of this design, there
have been incidents where a depressed pilot will trick a co-pilot into leaving the cockpit,
locking him out, and then intentionally crashing the plane as a method of suicide.
