Yup. Apparently it didn't do that well in Japan (it wasn't really bad, just incredibly generic),
so when it came to America they basically gave them the freedom to do whatever they wanted.
They decided to make a comedy out of it, it feels like a youtube abridged series or something.
Some of the jokes are dated, but it's worth a watch overall. Ghost Stories, check it out.
