It's interesting though, basically all of them are still recognized by a good chunk of anons,

im not even an oldfag, I literally spend days trying to dig up old memes and see how everything
fits together. I will never know what its like to actually like to habbo raid in 2006 or to have
snacks nuke everyone within a mile of a shitpost but I sure as hell will provide blackup to
anyone in need and will want to bring back snacks until the day I die.

>> [_] Anonymous 10/19/16(Wed)00:36:01 No.3164730

Snacks sucks dude, anyone who was really around back then knows it. Well actually opinion was
  divided on the subject!

bring back snacks was by shitposters.

>> [_] Anonymous 10/19/16(Wed)00:40:24 No.3164736

Going into more detail, back then in those days very little moderation was needed, yet Snacks'
ban count was at least twice or three times as high as the next most active moderator. You could
get banned for criticizing anything in his presence.

Nowadays, there is very much a need for moderation, yet it seems like only a trickle is given.
Having Snacks aggressive mod style back now might actually be a good thing, but the problem was
  he was right prematurely.

I think that the moderation team is going for a more invisible thing. You very rarely see a

Invisible moderation, forced anonymous, and all those other harebrained ideas moot began to
enforce were mistakes. He started to buy into his own hype and forgot that what made 4chan truly
great was it's "down home" feel that initially introduced many people to the real, personal, fun
interactions that this style of website provided to the Western world. It doesn't feel like that
AT ALL anymore. Ironically this website shined when it wasn't strictly following the Japanese
model. Hopefully Mr. Nishimura gets it, but I think he's a little squeamish so far in his
  handling of the site.

the whole of 4chans existence has been an amazing journey of ups and shits with a whole lot of
eeh inbetween. If this place disappeared tommorrow, I'd be sad but I'd know that the memories
will stay with me forever and we can always find this again...somtime, somewhere.

  one day anon...
Internet culture is too new at this point but it will be a huge field in the future with internet
archaeologists trying to dig up hard
drives of screencaps and memes to try and understand a previous
  civilization's (website's) culture.

  >tfw your grandkids will walk into a national history museum and see longcat
and pepe in a display case

people may one day regard 4chan as the Rome of the internet. fantastic culture
and beautiful monuments or memes in this case that stood the test of time.
the leg/i/ons conquering all who stood in their way.
then slowly spiraled and collapsed over the years until it finally ended and was
followed by 700 years of dark age normie memes and social media entrapment.

thats just my own personal autism though. there is a chance that everyone
forgets everything on the internet just like all those 1990's communities
that have no traces left behind.

but it is true, we are sitting within a mighty empire of the web. there is
not a single corner of the internet we have not touched. our memes have been
the root of internet culture since our inception.

weather we die next week or 3 decades from now, our mark has been made.
Augustus Moot has provided us our golden Pax Romana and Hirro watches as
/b/ burns. if the study of internet history really does become a thing,
I know we will be at the center of it and I couldn't be more proud to participate.

I don't know if you remember when /r9k/ was first established, but for the first week or so, it
was completely flooded with people declaring it the new /b/, and looked relatively promising.
That didn't last long, and we all know how it turned out.

I'm predicting the exact same thing will happen to /vip/, only that it's even more cancerous and
  controversial this time around.

That's what happens with every new random-ish board, remember how for the first week [s4s] was
actually reasonably novel and not just stale memes repeated over and over in the most ironic

I don't know if it will happen to /vip/ though, only a small amount of posters buy passes so who
