Why the fuck are the .swf files auto downloading instead of playing in a new tab when I click on
them. I'm on Chrome version 56.0.2924.87

because the people at Google are being fascists. they've decided it's time for you to abandon
flash.
best solution is to stop using Chrome. other than that you can re-enable flash manually (search
on bing for how to do it).
