I've never been accused of being the world's biggest Toto fan, but it's impossible to deny their
musicianship. It doesn't even take a learned ear to determine the power level being hidden here.
If any other drummer attempted that kick pattern in the chorus, they'd be accused of overplaying.
Jeff Porcaro, rest his soul, makes it work. It couldn't be executed any other way. He's a real
powerhouse watering down his ability in service to the song, but by the end, his kicked doubles
give away the footprints of the true giant we're dealing with here.
