it was a very different time
constant threat from a new war beginning, spying satellites, working from 9-5 all day every day
that you just want to sit down turn on TV and enjoy some stupid shows after work
very different times

this clip shows that you don't need high stakes to make a tv show good

In a tongue-in-cheeck sort of way, yes.
Absurdism was a staple of mainstream comedy in the late 50s through the 60s.
To wit:
Batman, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, Get Smart, Rocky and Bullwinkle, MPFC, etc. etc.

It was stupid a bit, even back then.
But also remember, back then, the joker wasn't just killing anyone and everyone in the comics.
It wasn't until the 80s where he truly became a psychotic killer.
It really was a much simpler time.
With Adam West's death, I think we're seeing the last of those who helped shape the 60's.

when you turned on the TV during the 60s you wanted to escape from reality so you got "stupid"
stuff like this. nowadays everybody have it so good that people want realism on TV (and in
movies) to remind them how shit things can be.
if things take a turn for the worse IRL again you'll start to see things like this again
