something cool about flash is that we can watch these things 15 years later without compatibility
problems. meanwhile if you try to play a 15 year old game on windows 10 you'd run into
compatibility problems most of the time.

Well, you pay for that kind of thing on the back-end.
Flash was stuck in a really old programming model, which made it unable to transition to low
battery-drain and multi-threaded stuff.
They tried to duck-tape new features onto it, but there's only so much you can do without
scrapping huge parts of it and the incompatibility that comes along with that. And there was no
way in hell they were going to figure out how to make it efficient.

dunno what you mean by old programming model, AS3 is like Java, which is modern. AS3 also has
multi-threading these days.
