  So, Flash is going to be dead in just a few years. We're gonna be able to buy a little more sand
  for our hourglass via people who refuse to update their computers, but the end is coming.

  Is there any plan to convert swf files into another format so they aren't lost forever? We need
  to start planning now, there are almost 200 thousand swf files on SWFChan alone, let alone sites
  like Newgrounds, Dagobah, AlbinoBlackSheep, and all the other sites from our childhoods.

  Most swf files could probably be converted to webm files, albeit with a considerably larger file
  size

  and I doubt flash will die in a few years, considering how many people won't update is one thing,
  but also the amount of businesses that have PC's they won't upgrade until they absolutely have
  to, which would likely be never, and they'd just update their servers instead

  there is a reason a file is a .swf and not a .mp4, you can't just convert all files to webm
  even if it was just a video that plays from x to y it's gonna be a huge file size increase (about
  10 times)
  not counting flv embeds, but they should be converted to webm from the getgo, reconverting them
  will get terrible results
  what about interactivity in these swf?
  what about ALL flash games? converting them to html5 is at the very least a huge java fiddling

  HTML5 player is being worked on by several people.
  They will gain momentum as more people learn about the deadline and the projects.

  Web browsers will still work with Flash if you keep an old version around for it.
  You just need to make sure it is locked away from colliding with other versions of the same
  browser.
  You can do that with open source browsers by installing the open-source / alternative builds. You
  might need to also install Flash along with them. (even with it installed currently, Flash is
  fucking dumb)
  Or you can use a solution below

  Windows: download Sandboxie.
  Learn how it works.
  Install Chrome (V45 with NPAPI flash, fuck PPAPI)
  Make shortcut to it and place it wherever.
  Install Flash.
  Use it exclusively for Flash.
  The sandboxing of Chrome AND Sandboxie together will prevent any attacks against you unless some
  NSA-tier Flash hacks get out, or you piss off the NSA personally.

  Linux: Install Firejail.
  Learn how it works.
  Install an old version of Chrome likewise.
  Install Flash.
  Run command firejail [insert old chrome version location]
  Should work. Not tried it though.

  Mac: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I DUNNO LOL.

  There are more sandboxing programs you can find for each OS.
  Check AlternativeTo.net and other sites.

  You can just have Flash (the Photoshop-esque Adobe product, not the runtime redist) installed on
  your PC. It comes with flashplayer.exe. Can run pretty much anything without relying on browser
  support.

  and on that note, I remember long ago Flash Player was program separate both from your browser
  and Flash itself. It had a white ball icon (as opposed to Flash's red ball). Surely it or
  something like it is still available somewhere to download online?

  You can contain HTML5 projects inside of sandboxed iframes. Literally created for embedding
  external web-apps.
