Still fighting for that anonymity at Google, eh Sigourney?

4chan was a big impact on the internet, not so much in reality.

i wouldnt say so, 4chan has affected my personality and reasoning greatly the last 10 years.
without anonymity i'd probably be stuck in the upvote/downvote hivemind-mindset that so many
non-4chan users have. 4chan has made me understand that its ok to agree and disagree a person at
the same time, here you can hate and love two posts in the same thread without realizing they are
by the same person. it has made me think differently over the years and not jump to conclusions
  so fast.

So when did /pol come into existence?
Because it seemed like the last two years of moot on 4chan were when /pol really started getting
  BAD.

True, but everything else operates so differently. Here, no one ranks higher than each other,
besides mods, everyone is equally a potential liar or whatever on who they are, etc. It's pretty
unfortunate that most social conversations can't be emulated in the real world like this...so
  essentially it's purely entertainment value.

/pol/ itself? Five or six years ago. Before that there was /new/ and /n/ though. Basically the
same cancer, just on a much smaller scale.
