[_] HOW DO I FIX FLASH? Anonymous 11/21/17(Tue)00:23:15 No.3296153
Ever since Chrome put in their stupid update (It seems like they make it worse every time) chrome
has been asking me for every flash and downloading if I try to open it in a new window.
I used to be able to fix this by using chrome plugins but now that's gone so i've been stuck with
it.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

firefox.

I'm currently using Firefox 53 and I've disabled all updates, including the 'silent updates' in
the background.
I'd say find a way to do that with Chrome then download an old version that still works with most
websites. Thankfully, flash support in the older versions doesn't change.

Only reason I switched to Chrome was back when Firefox was really shitting the bed on loading
speeds.
Now that Google keeps messing with how .swf files work and Mozilla unfucked their browser, I'd
recommend switching.
The only annoyance with Firefox is that when a website, such as /f/, activates Flash, it needs to
be verified to run, but once you allow it, the browser will remember and will run essentially
unimpeded.
There is a much more frustrating instance of this involving .swf files opened from your local
computer, where each individual file will need to be allowed to run.
I looked in the settings menu and Mozilla actually took away the option to disable that
protection feature, though it's probably somewhere embedded in the advanced options, if I cared
to look.
tl;dr fuck botnet acquire hot fox ass

fox is botnet too sadly.
as of a while ago they added telemetry(google this).
The load times are likely a result of it.
Try "pale moon" if you like FF.
It's the same thing but faster and no spyware.
A lot like old FF. the main downside is the lack of support for some FF addons but if you're
already considering skipping regular FF updates I don't see that being an issue with pale moon.

If you're using Firefox, there's at least a way to disable the nag for flash files.
Firefox 55 shit out a change that only lets SWF files retrieved on http:// or https:// addresses
play. You can un-fuck it at least.
1. In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the
button promising to be careful.
2. In the search box above the list, type or paste plug*ht and pause while the list is filtered
3. Double-click the plugins.http_https_only preference to switch the value from true to false
The only advise I can give from here on is to browse with some sense and don't open anything
suspicious.

It's slower than PM and FF at times these days though and features things like >>3296204 due to
copy/paste code.
also, PM is a much smaller size in both memory/HDD and more stable due to removing a metric
shitton of archaic and/or unused Mozilla code.
waterfox doesn't update regularly last I checked and when (if) they do they just copy FF code
instead of branching off meaning they're reliant on MOZ.

TO ANYONE IN THIS THREAD WHO HAS THIS PROBLEM WITH GOOGLE CHROME
There is a simple fix to this problem. Chrome has done a really stupid thing where many of the
settings are actually hidden, and cannot be accessed without entering a specific address in the
address bar. You can use Chrome as a file browser with this, which is mildly interesting, and it
files like you accessed them from a webpage, like images or pdfs. So what you need to do to
enable flash though is this;
>go to chrome://flags/
There are several hidden menus like this, but this is the one we need to access.
>Set "Prefer HTML over Flash" to disabled"
>Set "Run all Flash content when Flash setting is set to "allow"" to enabled
And that's it. There are other menus like //flags you can access as well, and other settings you
can fuck around with for Chrome. It honestly makes it a much better browser, since there are a
FUCKLOAD of customization options.

Ah, thanks, doc, for the daily reminder that /f/ is full of morons.

Anyone know how to fix this with Opera? My Google-fu seems weak today.

Looked there, and there were no such options listed. Any other places I can go to look?
