Why does no one care? >> [_] Anonymous 04/14/18(Sat)04:24:06 No.3329192 >>3329185 Not everyone wants it to die, but it's gonna anyway. Eventually. But there's those of us still making OC and sharing flashes, because it doesn't matter who's using flash outside of here. All that matters is hanging out and posting shit on /f/. And maybe even just doing that will prolong it's life a bit. >> [_] Anonymous 04/14/18(Sat)04:26:45 No.3329193 >>3329185 By everyone you mean those big corporations like google and chrome? Because nobody here wants flash to die. >> [_] Anonymous 04/14/18(Sat)07:57:36 No.3329219 >>3329185 this >>3329193 The creators of flash could not give two more fucks about THE ART COMMUNITY. They just cared about all the websites needing flash to be functional, like video plugins, or interactive menues and shit. When the "big ones" pressured relatively small Adobe to finally pull the plug, because officially flash just wasn't viable any longer, they did. Plus Adobe couldn't be arsed to update the NPAPI to a acceptable standard anyway, and when everywas (was made to be) alarmed at how OMG SO DANGEROUZ PLS REMOV flash was in the browser, they "filled the popular demand" of removing the ancient and obsolete flash plugin. tl;dr: The swfs won't just vanish. It would likely be hard to find a trustworthy flashplayer download source after the official gets taken down, but not impossible. Only the "majority" of people will just stop using flash without their knowledge, which will kill off all visitors to sites that rely on a huge anonymous userbase. >> [_] Anonymous 04/14/18(Sat)09:10:14 No.3329225 >>3329185 >Why does everyone want flash to die? It's a closed standard with a single, proprietary, horrifyingly insecure interpreter. In theory, projects like Shumway or Gnash couple pick up the task of being a decent Flash player, but I doubt that will happen any time soon. |
