I remember, I think 7-8 years ago, I was depressed and went on /b/ or /sci/ (can't remember)
asking what science documentaries to watch. Cosmos came up. Not an Americlap, so never knew who
Sagan was. I ignored Cosmos since it was made more than 20 years ago. So, it sat for god knows
how many months in my hard drive.
I watched it eventually, in glorious 240p. After watching/reading more stuff about Carl Sagan, I
decided there and then I would pursue a doctorate (in STEM, that I can assure you). A bit crazy,
considering my GPA which was ok, but not good enough. The administration blatantly told me that.
Currently writing my doctoral thesis and will be able to call myself doctor next year. Hopefully.
It's crazy to think how this dirty cesspool of a website influenced my life. /blogspot

Similar boat - was working a crappy dead end graveyard shift at a gas station and stumbled upon
/sci/ shortly after it was made. Got inspired to go back to school and I'm about a year from
finishing a PhD in physics.
