It never was a botnet. Looking at the archives, people seem to actually believe it was one. It's
not.
It was view tracking, yes, but the endpoints have been dead for years. You can look at the
requests yourself; crossdomain.xml 404s.
I'm fine with it if you want to keep it as a meme or some recurring repost topic, but I've been
absent from here for ages now. I don't want people to blindly believe the regurgitation of
others, it's unfair. I just counted views, people, it's not the worst thing people have done with
flashes, it's certainly not any worse than what Hiro does to you.
But, like I said, if this is not a "Oh, I just didn't know", then sure, keep at it. I guess it's
neat my name is ingrained into the history of /f/ that way, but it's also plain outdated FUD.

Runs malware ads. Do a search for "4chan hiro malware" and you'll find many threads from this and
last year complaining about them. Hiro is also "known" for selling user data, and managed to leak
cc info. You can also find info about this on his wiki article and lots of "oh shit hiro owns
4chan" threads you may find in the archives.
Half of this is FUD because everyone loves drama, but Hiro *is* getting paid for whatever ad JS
he includes, and he does include ad js. A ping is not a botnet; arbitary js is.

the only thing I noticed is that most of the boards went 1996 in web style because of those
malware ads that adblockers blocked
and I didn't know about that credit card leak. Thank fuck I haven't bought a 4chan pass.
But syaing "Hurr gookmoot's doing worse things" is not an excuse for doing any of this, even if
it's just for your personal use.

If you look through my posts, you'll often see I put "botnet" in quotes and a couple times
mentioned it did tracking.
I also made a Hat HD version that lacked that stuff, but people still post the version with it,
so why even care.
Also, I'm pretty sure you caught the joke, but just in case, I was the one to make this edit. So
I was just being sarcastic about the ban stuff.
