I've never been to one.
>> [_] Anonymous 12/21/17(Thu)00:47:37 No.3302927

They are awful things where people with ulterior motives gather and do uninteresting things while
you sit around feeling uncomfortable.
Lan parties are a different story though.

Shooting the shit with friends-of-friends while you sip on a form of alcohol. Conversation stays
fairly superficial, and various excuses are employed to break inertia and keep interactions under
15 min or so.
You'll find yourself reductively simplifying what you do for a living, and/or over-asserting the
validity of it/your current life status. If you're on a coast, someone will begin expounding on a
podcast they were just listening to. If finding commonality gets desperate, someone will bring up
Trump. This should only be used as a last resort, as it will sour any mood.
If it's loud, you get very close to the person and yell in their ear. You can also occasionally
get away with awkward half-assed gyrations, but it must be followed by the self-deprecation of
laughing at how bad your "dancing" is.
If it's domestic and less than 8 or so people, someone might bust out a game believed to be
social lubricant, e.g. Card Against Humanity.
That's literally it.

P.S. You know the party is over when someone starts showing a youtube video. It'll be that for
the rest of the night, back and forth as each person thinks of the next one to show, and it will
never be as funny as they (or you) think.

Mostly this, but I find if you all are in the same sort of mindset you can often discuss a topic
that everyone's into, like nerdy movies or so on. Like the new star wars film would be great
unless someone hasn't seen it.
Generally people just chat about things they can relate to.

This seems fairly manageable even for an awkward NEET, good to know.

It definitely is, non-NEETs usually go out to clubs for partying and lemme tell ya, that's a
whole other level
Basically gratuitous alcohol abuse

You can meet people at parties and hang out with them later, in fact that's one of the draws of
certain kinds of parties.
