The nuclear pore complex is a large complex of 30+ proteins each in 1-8 copies that allows
various proteins to be shuttled in and out of the nuclei of all of your cells. Communication
between the working (cytoplasm) and thinking (nucleus) regions of the cell is important for
normal cellular function. As is depicted here, scientists believe that the nuclear pore complex
is a HORRIBLE TENTACLE MONSTER.

it's shit like this that keeps me studying biololgy despite the 60-hour/week workload.

Now imma let you finish, but Allosphere had some of the best scientific visualizations ever!

(also the trippiest.)

Dammit, why does every scientific visualization of tiny molecular machines, have to be made of
smooth plastic rubbery stuff instead instead of the grainy folded up protein chains like it
actually is and would actually look like(yes, there will be microscopes capable of seeing some of
these things in light that's visible to us).

fuck I keep seeing tentacles...I've been here too long.

space-filling EM is the best we have so far. there will never be machines that let us see these
things in visible light because visible light's wavelength is too long.
deal with it.
