i remember being in Iraq and singing this with my team Sgt. on tower watch, both of us trying to
get that high note. I just found out that he went crazy on his third tour, and slit his wrists.
He's still alive and has asked me to talk to him, and i dont know what to say. i dont even know
where to vent off.

not that i know of, it was the qrf (quick reaction force) that confirmed kills, and they never
talked to us. it was always light up the target, call in qrf, secure the area, they would come in
and then we'd hear a new report about how an insurgency attack was stopped do too the diligent
work of the 1st cav (that was the qrf unit) and they never said any details. i know your
expecting a more exciting story, but the truth is pretty boring.

no we did perimeter security. its where you walk around the base, go up into a tour, chill for a
few hours, then let night shift do there thing. when we received contact, it was a few seconds,
usually i would be talking with someone in the tower, there would be a few pop shoots and we
would proceed to send rounds down range at where we think the target may have been. you would
continue contact until the qrf show up guns blazing to clear the zone (but by then contact was
usually over). this only happened to me about three times. and i dont know what im going to do
now. maybe finish my degree, i left after my associates (AS track 2, transfer), went to uncle sam
after i got my first bill for the loans (turns out if you take a semester off they start billing
you).
