>> Anon 35938 This flash was probably made due to the increase in popularity of Pokémon lately Unfortunately "Pokémon Go" has no gameplay what-so-ever. I tried it out expecting the same type of battles I had fun with on Game Boy in 1998. But it had no battle at all; you just found a Pokémon, threw a ball at it and it's yours. Just another typical cell phone game meant for the mainstream non-gamers with the typical in-app purchases. What a missed opportunity. I hear a lot of people saying stuff like "this will finally make gamers go outside and get some exercise" but honestly I don't see it happening when the game has no gameplay to keep real gamers interested. This product is clearly meant for people that are already pretty active, not really gaming. Once the hype dies down and the media stops giving it free advertisement I doubt it will remain interesting even for them.
>> Anon 35939 I found this a bit funny as well: https://games.slashdot.org/story/16/07/2 5/1640219/nintendo-shares-plummet-after-i nvestors-realize-it-doesnt-actually-make- pokemon-go
>> Anon 35942 >># Calm down essay master.
>> Anon 35943 >># cause as we all know, any pokemon porn released or posted from now on has to be related to Pokemon go
>> Anon 35949 >># >># No need to turn the atmosphere hostile immediately, instead feel free to join in with some thoughts or anecdotes and improve the community here if you want to.
>> Anon 35950 >># Yeah the simple hit / charge up / dodge battle system for gyms blows massive dick. How can they NOT continue to use the turn based combat system literally every gameboy game has had? So stupid.
>> Anon 35954 >># >># I didn't understand why Pokemon Go got popular. I tried it out, but it was literally nothing packaged as a Pokemon game, which is disappointing since a phone-based Pokemon game would have been great. There's no end goal, and there's no incentive to do anything since there's not even a social aspect to it. It's like a not-game.
>> Anon 35965 >># Yes sir U-mod, sir. Go rest in a fire.
>> Anon 35969 >># >># dancing_a.gif >># The social aspect is going outside and hunting for pokemon in droves and rallying behind your team. PLUS, not all of the features have been implemented yet, such as trading, and direct pvp battles. And let's be real here; if you came into that expecting to literally have a pokemon game on the phone, you signed yourself up for disappointment. They gave as many clear indicators of that not being the case as you could imagine.
>> Anon 35985 >># M8, the damn promo video has a fight in the middle of ¿new york?.
>> Anon 35992 >># Imagine if they had made a real single player campaign for the thing, where you start each day at the "inn" in town and can do some basic shopping/healing of pokemons in there and then when you are ready you press some "exit inn" button and go to the overworld map. Then you'd walk IRL to find Pokémons and so forth, find a treasure chest or two. Special Pokémons require travel outside cities. A distance meter counts down and once you have walked enough a rival challenge you to a battle and you progress the story that way. When you're done playing you exit the world map and are back in the inn (in your phone), ready to rest your Pokémons and restock antidotes/pokeballs etc. Random characters could appear in the Inn with missions ("walk 500 meters" and then you select a target spot on the world map and walk there IRL, or "catch me a Pikachu"). There would be battles that requires specific Pokemons with specific skills and a story to give a reason to play. I'd play the crap out of that game. They could still have Gyms as well for friendly PvP matches, stuff to do on the side.
>> Anon 36992 >># You mean developing and actual game?, that is to much work for a micro-transaction app.
>> Anon 36993 >># >># Autism has spouted it's ugly head once again. Go away, you.
>> Anon 37000 Well, I'm a Pokemon-Fan of the first hour, I still think that Red is the only real game out there, even yellow is too modern for me. I always played in black n white, or rather black n green screen. I fucking love the franchise is what I'm saying. But after playing GO for 2-3 weeks now I have to admit, yes the gameplay is garbage but at least they ironed some bugs out and the servers are stable so that's ok. Of course it's a game for casual mobile playing. I simply don't have the time or dilligence to play through another Pokemon installation, especially not one with real physical interaction. I think they actually did a pretty solid job, but yeah, it's lackluster. But it's less about the quality and amount of features, it's more about the thrill of actually competing against people IRL. It's kinda addicting is what I'm saying. The most addictive games are often the simplest ones, starting with Tetris. I'm glad they didn't force ads on us yet, so I give them this pro point. I can see how people are getting bored, but rest assured, the majority is not. I can still see gyms being switched hourly and they sometimes prove to be a big challenge. I'm seeing where you come from, but I guess they don't simply have the ressources to make a full fledged Pokemon-game for battling in the real world, the servers would explode and it would be an assload of work to do. I think though that this kind of gaming will be seen more often in the future, because first, casual games are absolutely popular and second, being fit and going outside is hip too nowadays, so I can see that we'll see other games like that.
>> Anon 37010 >># I got blue when I was a kid, never really got the difference between Blue and Red. I think Blue was called Green in Japan. >the servers would explode From what I'm reading they are already exploding, everybody and their grandma is trying the game. Something I think is weird though is how little Pokémon you find outside the cities. You'd think it should be crawling with them everywhere but it's completely dead in for example my vacation house.
>> Anon 37248 Yup, outside the big cities it's literally a desert, I dunno how they did it but they completely screwed this part, in the original games you're actually supposed to get into nature and out of town to catch pokemon, or caves but whatever. In big cities it's insane but where I live it's kinda mediocre, I've heard of towns with around 50k people that are fucking deserted and just have like 3 gyms.
