Don't touch anything labeled as 'Esspresso' until you know what you're doing. If the can's labeled in a foreign language, treat that shit like a goddamn bomb. Avoid store brands, they're complete shit. Also avoid chain brands, like Starbucks, Peet's, McCafe, & Dunkin Donuts. Those are expensive, and tend to be an acquired taste (also shit). Don't buy anything marked 'K-Cups' unless you own a Kuerig or want premeasured grounds for exactly one and a half cups of froofy hipster shit. If you have a store with bulk bins, like a WinCo foods, get a few flavors that smell good to you in small amounts. A cup of ground coffee beans will make approx. 6 pots of coffee. You'll pay less for experimenting this way than buying a full bag you may or may not hate later. Most places that sell coffee beans in bulk will also have a coffee grinder for your use. It'll have a giant silver knob on it with various settings. Make sure you've got it on the right setting for your coffee machine. Drip makers need finer grounds than french presses and percolators. Ask for help if you need it.

You can get a zero water or brita filter to clean it up a bit later if you feel like it. Coffee maker: make sure the damn thing's clean. Google coffee maker cleaning tips for your type of machine. And for the love of god, run several pots of clean water through afterwards. Coffee Filters: USE THEM. Make sure it's the size your machine needs. Otherwise you'll get bitter ass grounds in your cup. Recipe: one roughly level tablespoon of ground coffee beans per three 8oz cups of water. Your pot or your maker will have notations on it for how many cups of water you're filling it with. Personally, I stop at three tablespoons of grounds at 10 / 12 cups as I find the flavor is perfect right there. Add fresh cold water into the silo, and flip it on. More grounds will make the coffee stronger. Add a 1/2 tbs per 8oz or so the next time you brew a pot. Overdoing it is what has lead you to shit coffee. Drink while fresh. Throw the remaining coffee out after 4 to 6 hours, unless it's in an air tight thermos or insulated carafe. Coffee beans contain oils, and those float to the top and get rancid PDQ. Throw out the grounds when you pour your first cup, otherwise you will probably forget and it will begin to mold in 3 days. If adding cream or sugar, do so a little at a time to figure out what tastes best for you. Every brand and flavor can throw that off, unless you take it black as sin or like it blonde and sweet as a German Fraulein. And there you go. Shit advice from a shit tier, coffe guzzling graveyard employee.
