And beleive me, this will have a big impact on the numbers of visitors coming to the site. Following this, 4chan will be even more riddled with normies than it already is, leading to the consequencial death of anonymity and the original idea behind this site. 4chan is dying mates, and we can't do anything about it. >> [_] Anonymous 11/23/18(Fri)21:31:46 No.3369585 >>3369561 I do. Those of us who would be affected by the change have already gone through our period of mourning years ago. It might even be somewhat of a positive change, but at the same time I doubt anything good could happen at this point. The hacker on steroids known as anonymous has long since retired and moved to warmer climes. The little there is to lose is hardly worth saving. The only immediate threat here is to /pol/. >> [_] Anonymous 11/23/18(Fri)23:07:36 No.3369604 >>3369588 Isn't the whole point not so that Hiroshimoot can advertise 4Chan on normie sites, but that pearl-clutching advertisers will be more open to advertising on the SFW verison of the site? >> [_] Anonymous 11/23/18(Fri)23:46:11 No.3369613 >>3369532 I saw a post on /a/ get banned because they used the n word in an image. things are going to be very different. >> [_] Anonymous 11/23/18(Fri)23:53:51 No.3369617 >>3369613 >someone got banned for speech police Oh Hiromoot, you're better off reinstalling the classic filters. Every other board has either gotten overly politically correct, became less clever and more blunt with political incorrectness, or a mixture of the two via constant ironic shitposting. You can pretty much blame /v/ and /pol/ for what's happened to this site over the years >> [_] Anonymous 11/24/18(Sat)00:10:21 No.3369621 all we can do is go the way of /k/ and make merch to sell, hopefully recognize some of you in the streets >> [_] Anonymous 11/24/18(Sat)00:36:33 No.3369623 >>3369621 I can't even imagine what would go through my mind if I someone wearing a potato knishes shirt or saw a Takeo sticker on someone's car. That's too much for me to handle. I have seen people advertise their affinity with /b/ in public but steer clear of them. It seems ultra lame to actually talk about these things with some random person. Maybe someone could prove me wrong and it would turn out to be like talking about any other fandom but there's sort of an unspoken code that part of the package is concealing power levels. And /f/'s power level, unrestrained, is something truly terrible to behold. >> [_] Anonymous 11/24/18(Sat)00:51:37 No.3369626 >>3369623 I don't think this place is anywhere near as secretive as you might think and probably hasn't been since Fox News reported on it in 2007. Let's be real here, odds are almost everyone and their grandmother is browsing or has browsed 4chan, especially since this is one of only a few social networking sites left that doesn't regulate everything you say or do. People just don't want to admit they use this site because this place is too raunchy for words and they don't want to face the stigma from their family and SJWs >> [_] Anonymous 11/24/18(Sat)01:56:29 No.3369632 if you think 'normal fags' will flock to 4channel you are deluded in thinking it hasn't been like that since the dawn of time the only people not here have real lives or don't like the culture, every <30 yo has visited. ask around >> [_] Anonymous 11/24/18(Sat)02:07:14 No.3369635 >>3369626 I promise you neither of my grandmothers know what 4chan is and I am eternally grateful for that >> [_] Anonymous 11/24/18(Sat)02:49:07 No.3369640 >>3369635 >his gram gram doesn’t post on /f/ >> [_] Anonymous 11/24/18(Sat)02:52:32 No.3369641 >>3369626 I'm one of the few that does actually remember what it was like before the Fox report, so it may be coloring my view a bit. The seekrit club mentality was/is stupid, but it was objectively better then even with that cancerous attitude. I just still find it hard to believe that it's a real topic of conversation in meatspace for anyone. Online interaction and anonymity in particular are structured in such a way that lends itself to people being open only there, and defensive elsewhere, by the very nature of it. It's like the old maxim that if you want to find out a man's true nature, observe how he is when given a mask. The anonymity here is that mask. It never translates well in individual encounters. Those that aren't on the autism spectrum understand that you can't behave like you do here in public. I can recall only a few occasions where I've talked about 4chan and I've usually regretted bringing it up. I used to browse late nights at my friend's place back in 2008 and he naturally asked me what I was doing, so I introduced him to imageboards and he "didn't get it". Last I heard he's become religious and left the scene. Or the guy in upstate NY I used to AIM chat with. I haven't heard from him in years but I heard he's now a recognized musician. That was long before 4chan was a household name. I've found that the only times I typically have had a meaningful conversation about these things is with people that program/run/mod websites, because their perspective is totally different and for the most part free of drama. Watching things from the shadows but never saying anything, sometimes they have the most interesting and insightful things to say when they do finally choose to. >this is one of only a few social networking sites left that doesn't regulate everything you say |
