Honestly, apple is the worst hardware business i can think of.

Patent was made so that a company could have a reasonable period of time to sell technology they
developed at a higher markup to recoup the cost of development and incentivise progress, not so
that cocksuckers could "develop" a new jack every few years and then force everyone to buy rights
to manufacture plugs for it. I guarantee the same year that their patent on this plug runs out
they'll come out with a new, even more innovative one.
