Smoking is fine as long as you're not doing it regularly, same with drinking, gambling, or any 'vice'. >> [_] Anonymous 06/02/18(Sat)16:54:08 No.3339309 >>3339308 I agree for many vices, but that doesn't mean one who doesn't partake in those vices doesn't have the right, or even the moral superiority, to criticize them. Of course, this guy has many vices much worse than smoking, so I don't think it would apply much to him. >> [_] Anonymous 06/02/18(Sat)17:19:25 No.3339314 I wouldn't mind other people smoking if it wasn't for the fucking stench. >> [_] Anonymous 06/02/18(Sat)23:19:41 No.3339368 >>3339308 >Smoking is fine as long as you're not doing it regularly And not doing it in the vicinity of other people in a public place. >> [_] Anonymous 06/03/18(Sun)03:10:09 No.3339405 >>3339368 In the 1920's, smoking was a sign of sophistication, that one was well to do and a member of polite society. In the 1930's, every club, lounge, and dive was smoking room only. To not smoke was considered impolite. In the 1940's, cigarettes were rationed. A rarer treat, and one you were proud to save up for to send to the boys at war. In the 1950's, Pop had his pipe while he read the paper; Mom used one of those fancy cigarette extenders. The boss might invite you into his office to share a Cuban cigar when you got a bonus. 1960's was about the turning point in public opinion. Cancer was being linked to smoke inhalation. The teenagers were experimenting with 'waky tabaccy' and 'Marijuana'. 1970's. Woodstock. Hippies. Free love. Smoke anything you can get your hands on, Tabacco or otherwise. 1980's. Many people were embarrassed about the things they did ten years ago. It was easy to blame it all on 'the weed'. And since seeing mom and pop smoking as kids was what made them feel it was okay... 1990's. Restaurants are split into 'Smoking' and 'Non-Smoking' sections. Surgeon General warnings are plastered on everything cigarette related, informing you of your risk of cancer. D.A.R.E. was introduced, and proclamations that 'Winners Don't Do Drugs' were on the screen of every arcade game and cartoon intro reel. Cigarette vending machines that have been in place for 30 years are torn out and exchanged with soda machines. Joe Camel is discontinued. 2000's. Smoking is no longer allowed in restaurants. The last hold outs: bars, clubs, and dives, hang up the 'No Smoking' signs. 2010's. Smoking is viewed as being in poor taste, and those that choose to smoke are regulated to out door areas only. Told to stay 25 feet from any door or window. Told to police their butts. Told that second hand smoke kills children and puppies. Signage is placed everywhere smokers can go which encourage them to quit smoking. Opinion is fickle. Especially the public's. >> [_] Anonymous 06/03/18(Sun)03:21:32 No.3339406 >>3339405 You sure did type up a lot of shit to say nothing of importance. Yeah, we learn things as time goes on and behaviors that turn out to be detrimental to society become taboo, this isn't a new concept. Perhaps you also think it's unfair that you'd be looked down on for trying to have a kid with your 13 year old sister? |
