>Independently discovered last week by several security firms—including ICEBRG, Qihoo 360 and
Tencent—the Adobe Flash player zero-day attacks have primarily been targeting users in the Middle
East using a specially crafted Excel spreadsheet.
>"The hackers carefully constructed an Office document that remotely loaded Flash vulnerability.
When the document was opened, all the exploit code and malicious payload were delivered through
remote servers," Qihoo 360 published vulnerability analysis in a blog post.
>The stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2018-5002, impacts Adobe Flash
Player 29.0.0.171 and earlier versions on Windows, MacOS, and Linux, as well as Adobe Flash
Player for Google Chrome, and can be exploited to achieve arbitrary code execution on targeted
systems.

>If you have already uninstalled Flash player, well done! But if you haven't, here's another
great reason for ditching it.
God fucking damn it, these mainstream people and their crusade. How about instead of abandoning
great technology you fix it instead?
Browsers COULD support reading and displaying flash files out of the box without any plugin, just
like browsers support reading and displaying image files today. The swf format is open.

this is pretty much every flash exploit ever, it always involves some convoluted stuff outside of
simply viewing a flash in your browser. but news sites still like to report how flash is satan
itself and nobody ever remembers the details. they just remember "flash bad".

Look lad, we all like flash, for god's sake this is /f/ after all. But you need to face the fact
that Flash is outdated and fundamentally riddled with vulnerabilities in a way that HTML5 just
isn't. The price, of course, is sacrificing the content that flash provides, which is something
that none of us here want to do. However, frankly if you have flash enabled on any website other
than /f/ you are absolutely retarded.
>How about instead of abandoning great technology you fix it instead?
Software companies are ditching flash because it's much cheaper to adapt their shit to html5 than
have to worry about the slow, exploit-riddled jittery piece of shit that is flash. And this is
coming from someone who loves the format. It's dead. Videos can be played without flash. Tiny
games that were once on browsers can be downloaded in seconds from itch.io or onto your phone.
Even Zombo.com is on html5 now. You can't keep clinging to denial forever, man. There's four
other stages of grief to get through before 2020.

but can html5 make seamless audio and video loops that are not bloated to infinity?
