The show was as much an action series as it was an adventure show, as well as a drama. It was
just a vehicle for storytelling, really. People remember Samurai Jack for being a show with
exciting action sequences in places that were just meant to be set pieces but if you rewatch it
you'd realize that most people remember the show incorrectly. Action only served as a climax to
most of the stories that Jack was involved in.
The action is over the top and fun to look at and isn't meant to be a realistic interpretation.
The action scenes themselves are far form derivative and some fights (the shadow ninja for
example) are some of the most creative ones from an narrative and animation standpoint. Jack is
also a sort of observer in his new world and represents the viewer to an extent. He has plenty of
personality but it's hidden behind his 2nice4u zen Japanese persona. As for the world, that's the
point. He's just getting strung along by Aku in a world that's fantastical and amazing and going
to be entirely wacky compared to some quiet swordsman draped in white.

possible. Everything about it was sub-par except the animation, which was still nothing special.
