  it's a shame adobe decided to starve this technology instead of porting it to HTML5. now decades
  of awesome indie movies and games will die.

  What difference does it make? The issue with Flash is Adobe's disinterest combined with the lack
  of competing implementations. Running Flash Player as a standalone application vs it as a browser
  plugin is just window dressing.
