Military training is very systematic and is explicitly intended to cause psychological changes in
recruits in order to make them "better soldiers" by the standards of the military. It's not a
profession like carpenter, where everyone has a vastly different experience.
A lot of returning vets become psychologically damaged and can no longer work in the public
sector, but they fit right in with law enforcement, which sometimes was their primary duty in the
military as well.
It's a cycle which causes police to TEND TO BE mentally ill, damaged, and aggressive /
unpredictable people.
It's a very trace-able, very simple explanation that requires barely any assumptions due to the
amount of studies done on PTSD.

What would exam scores have anything to do with violent tendencies. While what you say would be
ridiculous if true, it doesn't really apply to the issue at hand. The current issue isn't cops
making bad choices due to bad choices in stressful situations, it is using excess force when
there is no longer any threat.

Just FYI, that's an appellate decision, which means that it's only enforceable and binding in the
circuit that the appeal was decided on. Other circuits can follow suit, but that's an optional
decision. For it to be legally binding nationwide, it needs to reach the Supreme Court and be
decided there.
