The point is not that chocolate is supposed to taste like cocoa, but that they've never even seen
one of the main things made out of the cocoa they harvest. They don't even know wtf it's used
for. Even if you gave them 99% chocolate which is indeed bitter they still would have no idea wtf
it is and how it's made using the cocoa.
