[_] What's up with first flash? Anonymous 01/27/20(Mon)20:26:32 No.3416473

How does anyone know what their first flash saved was? That was so many years ago. Did everyone
here just start using /f/ a few weeks ago? Does everyone have a harddrive where all the files
have been there for several years?

Marked for deletion (old).

  >Does everyone have a harddrive where all the files have been there for several years?
  yes
sort by date created, and select the oldest one. it's not rocket science, retard.

I don't keep my harddrives for several years, let alone decades, is what I'm saying. It's not
hard to read, retard. Most harddrives only last like 4 years.

I assumed people were talking about their first flash, as in the first one they ever saved, not
just the first on their current drive.

I have archives of stuff that goes back to the 90s.
I've gone through untold countless drives in that time, the collections migrate from drive to
drive, carrying their metadata with them.
Not really a brain exercise to figure out how old (whatever) is.

Also, I think I understood the original call (yesterday?) for "first flash" to mean the first OC
authors created? Or maybe I was drunk... I don't know, I don't care. And I'm not posting my first
  OC, it's total cringe.
To be honest, I can't even recall, and I believe it's lost to the Abyss... though I think it
might be a Spin Me 'Round edit... something with a Betty Page-looking chyk being spun on a rope
by a dominatrix, to the song)
Y'all do justice reposting my more practiced works, thank-you /f/riends.

Please stop with the reddit spacing.
You obviously don't keep actual drives for decades, but backups on backup drives, that can be
  replaced if necessary.
I always have all my swfs on my harddrive, it doesn't take up THAT much space if you don't save
all the converted videos and back that up onto a disk.
  Works forever.

  >>3416473
Apart from that, I just remember the first few flashes I watched and saved back in the 00s.
I mean, did they seriously not impact you at all for you to forget them? I remember all the
  classics just in my head.
But I guess if you just started a few years ago...

  >>3416494
The biggest problem I had was sheer stubbornness.
I never saved a lot in the old days because I just wasn't that fixated on wanting to have my own
  collection.
That changed over time, but then swfchan came along, so why save myself if all are in there right?
  Yeah, pretty stupid amirite.
Now I grab all of them whenever I feel like it.
Also, I didn't think it was first OC, only because I don't believe there to even be that many
anons on here that ever created something. Shamefully my contributions were also rather recent.
I never made cringe OC per se, but just really meaningless stuff like converting videos (I know,
I know, but they are still posted here and then). Only like the last few years I actually managed
to fiddle around with actionscript and the like.

Look at Date Modified instead of Date Created. The date created is going to show the date the
flash was copied to a new drive, but the date modified will show the day the flash was first
downloaded, doesn't matter which drive it was saved to. That's assuming you haven't modified the
files in anyway, such as renaming it, but why would you do that?

  >reddit spacing
you're a faggot you know that? The dude was probably writing his reply in the "quick reply" box
and in there his post defiantly looks like it could use a break there. the "reddit spacing"
garbage was introduced by redditors, how else could you know what redditors type like without
being one yourself? just because someone uses paragraph breaks properly doesn't mean they're from
a particular area on the internet anyway.

  >Only like the last few years I actually managed to fiddle around with actionscript and the like.
i wish i had done more with flash myself. the most i've ever gone with is editing things with
jpex and i can't do even that anymore until i can figure out how to get the program to work since
it broke somehow a few months ago.

date created is not guaranteed to carry over across systems/backups and isn't reliable, so check
to see if date modified is older than date created
