  Are you happy with today's internet culture? What have changed? What do you hate? What have
  improved? The thing that bores me the most is sites not being receptive to the searching for new
  content made by no ones, i know that some big companies have to be careful because one thing
  saying nigger on the home page = -x dollars, but isn't there some place that you can be a dum dum
  and post you shit with the possibilitie to someone look the things you made on your computer
  without the need of you go out there and rub your things on other people's faces? I sometimes do
  this on yt with ytp but i really doubt that much people search things by release date just to see
  things made by no ones with the attempt to just have fun and maybe have some compliments, if
  every site had a simples button named "recent" it would be so much fun, i want fun.

  I do that sometimes on youtube, looking up the most recent junk or the stuff a decade old with
  under 1k views... both of them are as difficult to get to as you say, like finding a new flower
  or a untouched relic, respectively

  before it was more people who were invested/enjoyed the internet for its own sake

  but with the nets more powerful utility, ubiquity and ease of access (mostly through handhelds,
  but also just all around a quality increase ) everyone is able to watch and interact more than 10
  years ago... the problem with this is that 'everyone' includes people whom previously weren't
  there, mainly those who use it as a medium for getting money in some way or form and they
  exacerbate stuff in a way that they always get center stage/the most exposure

  how many people used the internet to make money in 2005-2010 compared to 2015-2020? 100x as many?
  1000x as many? and how much more bullshit is there? I mean call me a theorist but I'm guessing
  there's a connection

  I miss there being niche forums or newsgroups for everything under the sun. everything is more
  nebulous now with people using reddit or twitter for their hobbies, which have extremely low
  quality discussion because of the ways the sites work. a lot of these old forums are still around
  but you can feel the entire userbase collectively getting older and thinning out without much
  young blood. it's the same couple dozen people posting all the time. feels bad man.

  Internet culture is dead. Twitter and instagram killed it. Scramble to any closed gate circlejerk
  you managed to befriend and cherish it all you can for it's all there's left.

  I get why they want to force the algorithm onto users. Same with social media websites doing the
  same. The longer an average user stays = more ads. But not only are they making it needlessly
  difficult to sort things chronologically, they don't work most of the time. Youtube search is a
  joke and looking for new content bar the ones they find marketable is discouraged.

  Also the current internet culture sucks. There's too many people, everyone takes things too
  seriously, and a big chunk of traffic is sipohned by trash websites like Twitter.

  What I hate is the discussions. 10 years ago when people wanted to argue on /b/ someone posted a
  picture of two monkeys knife fighting and the caption "Internet Argument" and people knew they
  were engaging in a meaningless shit flinging contest. These days they truly try to argue and so
  /gif/ and most sites have ten times more replies than images.

  I think we used to be here to create original content together. Which was of course always some
  sort of a falsehood. One guy made a new memeformat and most others used it for their own sake.
  But I think we had new stuff more often and people were somewhat creative in using it. Maybe it's
  just that back then stuff was new for me and I got bored by the internet as I know it.

  Everything was exciting then and new exciting things got rare. Like others said so many people
  now, so many sites and it get's harder and harder to find things you like.

  Maybe we have to make our own sites now? But I don't know how and I don't wanna find out, yet. I
  am looking for real world connections instead of more internet.

  But what has improved is my skill in using the internet to do stuff. I mean when I need it for
  school or buying new things or whenever I have a clear problem that needs a clear solution. I
  think I have gotten better at finding help on the internet. On the on side because I know the
  right places, but also beacuse a bigger internet has more right places like price comparison
  websites, tutorials and communities.

  If I can wish for one thing, it is a group somewhere or a forum or a board where I feel like back
  in the old times. Where people collect original content that is weird, offensive, disgusting,
  sexually deviant and most of all new and interesting.
  Like a mix of /r9k/ and /s4s/, maybe I should check these sites out.

  Or what I truly want are friends like I had back then who find that shit funny and browse those
  sites to collect memes.
  Probably a mix of both.
  I want friends a cool place where we can hang out.

  I hate how everything that made the internet unique and set it apart from real life is now
  actively shunned and people want to "correct" this.
  Like, the whole internet was supposed to be freedom of information.
  A place outside of what normally is your life. A niche. A worldwide subculture, that could be the
  same whether you are in brazil or russia.

  And now? People errecting "border" (this video is not available in your country) where there
  should be none. Because why celebrate something that can be greater than reality ey?

  the only thing I can think of that could surpass the internet is that in some future we'll figure
