What do you hate? What have improved? The thing that bores me the most is sites not being receptive to the searching for new content made by no ones, i know that some big companies have to be careful because one thing saying nigger on the home page = -x dollars, but isn't there some place that you can be a dum dum and post you shit with the possibilitie to someone look the things you made on your computer without the need of you go out there and rub your things on other people's faces? I sometimes do this on yt with ytp but i really doubt that much people search things by release date just to see things made by no ones with the attempt to just have fun and maybe have some compliments, if every site had a simples button named "recent" it would be so much fun, i want fun. Marked for deletion (old). >> [_] Anonymous 08/15/20(Sat)20:19:02 No.3436692 I do that sometimes on youtube, looking up the most recent junk or the stuff a decade old with under 1k views... both of them are as difficult to get to as you say, like finding a new flower or a untouched relic, respectively >> [_] Anonymous 08/15/20(Sat)20:45:33 No.3436693 I hate the modern internet culture. The whole world is here now. >> [_] Anonymous 08/15/20(Sat)21:42:06 No.3436699 >>3436693 this before it was more people who were invested/enjoyed the internet for its own sake but with the nets more powerful utility, ubiquity and ease of access (mostly through handhelds, but also just all around a quality increase ) everyone is able to watch and interact more than 10 years ago... the problem with this is that 'everyone' includes people whom previously weren't there, mainly those who use it as a medium for getting money in some way or form and they exacerbate stuff in a way that they always get center stage/the most exposure how many people used the internet to make money in 2005-2010 compared to 2015-2020? 100x as many? 1000x as many? and how much more bullshit is there? I mean call me a theorist but I'm guessing there's a connection >> [_] Anonymous 08/15/20(Sat)22:07:15 No.3436703 I miss there being niche forums or newsgroups for everything under the sun. everything is more nebulous now with people using reddit or twitter for their hobbies, which have extremely low quality discussion because of the ways the sites work. a lot of these old forums are still around but you can feel the entire userbase collectively getting older and thinning out without much young blood. it's the same couple dozen people posting all the time. feels bad man. >> [_] Anonymous 08/16/20(Sun)00:40:19 No.3436740 >>3436690 >Are you happy with today's internet culture? What internet culture? it's all extensions of real life now. Internet culture is dead. Twitter and instagram killed it. Scramble to any closed gate circlejerk you managed to befriend and cherish it all you can for it's all there's left. >> [_] Anonymous 08/16/20(Sun)03:17:05 No.3436749 I get why they want to force the algorithm onto users. Same with social media websites doing the same. The longer an average user stays = more ads. But not only are they making it needlessly difficult to sort things chronologically, they don't work most of the time. Youtube search is a joke and looking for new content bar the ones they find marketable is discouraged. Also the current internet culture sucks. There's too many people, everyone takes things too seriously, and a big chunk of traffic is sipohned by trash websites like Twitter. >> [_] Atavus 08/16/20(Sun)04:21:09 No.3436753 What I hate is the discussions. 10 years ago when people wanted to argue on /b/ someone posted a picture of two monkeys knife fighting and the caption "Internet Argument" and people knew they were engaging in a meaningless shit flinging contest. These days they truly try to argue and so /gif/ and most sites have ten times more replies than images. I think we used to be here to create original content together. Which was of course always some sort of a falsehood. One guy made a new memeformat and most others used it for their own sake. But I think we had new stuff more often and people were somewhat creative in using it. Maybe it's just that back then stuff was new for me and I got bored by the internet as I know it. Everything was exciting then and new exciting things got rare. Like others said so many people now, so many sites and it get's harder and harder to find things you like. Maybe we have to make our own sites now? But I don't know how and I don't wanna find out, yet. I am looking for real world connections instead of more internet. But what has improved is my skill in using the internet to do stuff. I mean when I need it for school or buying new things or whenever I have a clear problem that needs a clear solution. I think I have gotten better at finding help on the internet. On the on side because I know the right places, but also beacuse a bigger internet has more right places like price comparison websites, tutorials and communities. If I can wish for one thing, it is a group somewhere or a forum or a board where I feel like back in the old times. Where people collect original content that is weird, offensive, disgusting, sexually deviant and most of all new and interesting. Like a mix of /r9k/ and /s4s/, maybe I should check these sites out. Or what I truly want are friends like I had back then who find that shit funny and browse those sites to collect memes. Probably a mix of both. I want friends a cool place where we can hang out. >> [_] Anonymous 08/16/20(Sun)04:56:14 No.3436756 >>3436690 I miss when internet wasn't taken seriously and only a bunch of retards and niggers got offended here but most of all I miss trolling unironically. What changed is that smartphones overtook desktops in sales and the gap is only getting bigger now. >> [_] Anonymous 08/16/20(Sun)10:08:21 No.3436772 >>3436690 I hate how everything's monetized now. Everyone and their mums has commissions, sponsorship deals and such. It's a project the old 9chan dev team set up in the interest of preserving old internet culture. I suggest you come visit! It's a comfy little corner of the web that's still in its' early days. We recently had an image contest and I got a banner I made featured. >> [_] Atavus 08/16/20(Sun)14:21:03 No.3436794 >>3436791 I now did. Interesting place. Don't like Heyuri-Chans hairstyle, but you might make some nice communist memes out of that star. Gonna lurk there a bit, see what happens. Atleast my VPN doesn't get IP-Blocked and I don't need any pass. >> [_] Anonymous 08/16/20(Sun)15:12:08 No.3436796 >>3436690 Newgrounds. Like, the whole internet was supposed to be freedom of information. A place outside of what normally is your life. A niche. A worldwide subculture, that could be the same whether you are in brazil or russia. And now? People errecting "border" (this video is not available in your country) where there should be none. Because why celebrate something that can be greater than reality ey? People come in and see "wow this isn't how I'm used to things, this isn't what I'm already familiar with" and then go "LET'S JUST MAKE IT THAT AGAIN, BECAUSE FUCK EVERYONE BEFORE ME AMIRITE? I AM THE LAW". People get jailed because they had an opinion oti. People get outcast irl for not playing some mobile gacha game. The same women who as girls were bullying you because "LOL GAMEBOY YOU'RE LIKE 12 NOW!" are now "OMG LOOK AT MY SELIFE, I'M A GAAMER GUURL". The whole userbase of the internet has become one giant newfag. People ruined the world and we flew from those people. And now they once again have invaded and destroyed everything we hold dear to ourselves. Time to leave the place and find an even better internet my fellow /f/riends! >> [_] Anonymous 08/16/20(Sun)18:22:08 No.3436821 >>3436817 >>3436817 >Time to leave the place and find an even better internet my fellow /f/riends! How? It isn't too early to find some new revolutionary vehicle? I don't even now what they can do after the internet, like internet surpassed phones and television, i know that maybe it's not the peak of our power, but i fear that we will not live enough to experience this marvelous invention. >> [_] Anonymous 08/16/20(Sun)19:07:58 No.3436825 >>3436821 I can't imagine what would be better than the internet anything that'd try to surpass the internet, even a new version of it, would have to compete with all of the old internets shit the only thing I can think of that could surpass the internet is that in some future we'll figure out how to connect an internet between planets, THAT internet will be brand new/empty and our current one definitely would not be able to be usable along that road >> [_] Anonymous 08/16/20(Sun)23:05:53 No.3436840 >>3436690 I really hate a lot of it. Theres bullshit like twitter that can literally sway politics and facebook where you important information can be stolen. it just has become so normalised in such a bad way. I really hate that you have to moderate yourself because everything is so fucking available for everyone else to see, thats why anon sites are great unlike twitter or plebbit. >inb4 using twitter or plebbit but thats the bullshit if you want to use any of these super popular and useful platforms you need to associate with them and have you every post, comment, follow, like etc documented and judged because everyone gives way to much of a fuck, its like that old screenshot says, say nigger on 4ch and no one cares, say nigger elsewhere and everyone loses their shit. also as >>3436703 said, all topics have been absorbed by giants like reddit. want news on your fav vidya? better sign up for reddit. no more forums or irc unless its underground or obscure. >> [_] Anonymous 08/17/20(Mon)00:56:30 No.3436851 >>3436690 I hate that corporations started paying attention to the internet. It will be read-only yeah, but you still can use it with no account. >>3436817 As a sort-of newfag to the internet, that was using it on the verge when it was still sort-of niche and turning into a worldwide thing, I can say that you're pretty much spot on and it saddens me. |
