  Btw, according to the flash player administration guide you will be able to un-brick the flash
  plugin by whitelisting domains.

  NPAPI code is planned to be removed entirely, the only thing leaving the code in is flash support

  may be possible to unblock for a while but when code is gone then there's nothing to do other
  than use forks

  Yes, an alternative or old version of your browser will be needed but Adobe has made it so that
  the flash plugin itself will stop functioning. Even if you used a browser still supporting NPAPI
  you wouldn't be able to show swf files unless you use a much older version of the plugin. But the
  mms.cfg edit should allow the newest plugin to keep working as well.

  I wonder if this will work with a standalone version of a browser.
  Does the plugin which isn't installed but just called from within the folder, such as the
  portable palemoon, also ask for the mms in the windir, or maybe some other place?
