[_] Please tell me a Windows 10 update isn't going to kill flash Anonymous 01/15/21(Fri)23:05:37
No.3457600
If so, how the fuck do I prevent this?
Apparently it's gonna prevent flash files from running, period. No standalone player, no
inbrowser. The fuck is this garbage?

it wasn't a windows update, it was an adobe update, and it's already happened. in the meantime
i'm pinning my hopes on Ruffle:
https://ruffle.rs/#releases
they're working on it.

I've already sorted flash from updating, my concern is microshaft putting something that
straightup blocks flash from running.
Ruffle looks promising, but it seems like it's gonna be a few years before it's fully operational.

i just uninstalled the last security update for flash in windows. this downgraded the killswitch
version with the last "good" version.
but unfortunately this will only last until the next update because you can no longer decide what
should be installed.
otherwise you can still use firefox with flash 32.0.0.371. if mozilla removes support soon too i
would recommend palemoon

that will not happen then.
but why do you still have a version from 2 years ago?
the latest version is still compatible. Also, the Firefox versions before the Firefox Quantum
Update are relatively slow

>The fuck is this garbage?
It sucks that adobe is killing flash what a shit corporation welcome to 2021.
>If so, how the fuck do I prevent this?
Simple.
1) Get Virtual Box and create VM
2) install windows 7 in the VM (use pirated media)
3) Use VM to save collect and brows /f/
>b-b-b-b-b win 7 is insecure and flash is insecure muh security !
Simply don't do anything sensitive in the VM.
Use 7zip to extract the files you download in the VM to your real OS.
Any questions?
/g/ checking out !

From https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4577586/update-for-removal-of-adobe-flash-player
>This update only removes Adobe Flash Player that was installed by your version of Windows. If
you installed Adobe Flash Player manually from another source, it will not be removed. For more
information about how to remove Adobe Flash Player, see the Uninstall Flash Player | Windows
topic on the Adobe website.
Windows Update only handles the ActiveX version of flash, which affects Internet Explorer and
programs like IrfanView or Media Player Classic. Firefox (NPAPI) or Chrome (PPAPI) won't be
affacted.
The reason you can't "uninstall" this update is because it would involve Windows Update
re-installing flash, something it no longer will be able to do since it no longer distributes
flash. There will of course be possible to manually hax ActiveX back on your machine, it's not
like Windows will launch a dedicated process that constantly scans your machine for flash.
>>3457679
Running a virtual machine just for flash is overkill when you can just play the swf files in
Adobe's standalone projector.
