you gotta understand, Hiro seems to barely remember he owns 4chan. moot made it, he liked it
(until 2012 or so), and he wanted people to have fun with it; that's why he did the cons. Hiro
just uses 4chan to peddle scams and probably sells data through his search engine company
(exactly what he did with 2ch). Every decision Hiro has ever made with 4chan has been to squeeze
nickels and dimes from its users.

site degenerate to the current state even if he truly hates the site. /pol/ would have been axed
after 2016 before it turned into /stormfront/ + /thedonald/ and /b/ would have been put under

I never bothered with the con itself but I grew up in Baltimore. Otakon was always a blast
because there would be cosplayers all over the harbor and downtown and the locals were confused
as shit. Occasionally Otakon would occur on the same weekend as a metal festival called Maryland
Death Fest and some of the crazy metal people who were closet weebs would come and party with the
confolk. Good times.

Those were better times. I remember visiting 4chan first time after it "died" second time because
of paypal. 4chan has always been a place for counterculture, but at least during that first half
of 4chan's lifespan it wasn't "SRS Business". Which is kinda ironic now, because it became
exactly what the people were making fun of back then.
