  https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/end-of-life.html

When I rebooted Windows 10 today I was greeted with a window that urged me to uninstall flash and
that linked to the URL above. It says:

  >Flash-based content will be blocked from running in Adobe Flash Player after the EOL Date

I wonder if this means that not only is the plugin bricked, but also the standalone flash player
  exe?

Marked for deletion (old).

I don't understand why Adobe not only want to stop supporting flash, but they want to bury it
  completely.

Has there been any efforts to disassemble the flash player? I am starting such a project. I am
going to disassemble flash player version 20.

The actionscript virtual machine is opensource so I will integrate the open source VM into the
  disassembled player.

I am going to keep the compiled binrary and extract functions from it one at a time such that it
will be possible to validate each step without having to wait until its all complete.

Even if the standalone player gets nuked, I have player versions 10 through 17 archived on an
air-gapped Vista system that hasn't touched the internet since 2015. Compilation dates range from
2011 to 2015. Flash will persist one way or another.

Wouldn't it be better to work on 32.0.0.445 (as late as possible) if you're going to hax the
player? Are you trying to remove the thing that makes it stop working next year?

  >>3443074
That's good but I wish Adobe would let us keep using the newest version that has the most
  security patches.

I am using version 20 because that is the version which is equal to the opensource action script
virtual machine. I want to be able to slot the opensource virtual machine straight in.

Okay, is it just for fun you're doing it? Because I don't think version 20 of the flash player
will stop working next year since it was released before 2017 when Adobe announced they are
  abandoning flash.

Flash Player 20 was released in December 2015.
SWF version 20 was released April 2013 (used in Flash Player 11.7).

If the NPAPI plugin is installed in Windows 10 Flash appears as an icon on the control panel.
Updates to flash is served by Windows Update. The program (by Adobe) creates a dialog urging to
  uninstall.

Adobe must be crazy to give up on something that was such a big part of Internet that it got such
  special treatment by Microsoft.

Imagine if Adobe had made everything related to flash free and open-source. With enough effort
browsers could have rendered flash natively, displaying .swf files on their own similar to how
they can display .jpg files on their own.

Flash should have been sandboxed properly instead of abandoned.

Hello does anyone know the name of a flash game similar to this one???

It had particles representative of elements and how they interacted (electric currents on
  metal/liquids) explosive C4 etc

Was all colored particles, great game but may have been to large to post on flash

  tl;dr:
Windows wants you to uninstall the plugin.
Adobe wants you to uninstall the plugin, will most likely happen automatically after 2020.
If you still have an installer for it (grab the offline not online one) you can still not use it,
because browsers will drop plugin support (have already for everything but flash).
Lastly, even if you use a non shitty browser (basically everything besides chrome, firefox or
micrococks), the plugin is bricked, so it cannot be used after system date 01.02.2021 (somewhere
  in january).
Someone would have to create a modified and unsigned version of the last plugin released.

The downloadable projector exe is not affected by any of this.
You can have as much copies of it or copies inside encrypted zips as you want, nothing will
happen to it, won't get removed, or is bricked by the system date (yet).

Grab a copy of the current projector and store it somewhere safe, just to be sure.

All projects to emulate the plugin with open source are either:
  very shitty
  don't work with actionscript
  are years behind
won't get developed until the end of flash
will get dropped in the near future
  all of the above

really, the best bet is to modify the plugin and not pozz flash to change anything about
implementing some strange newgrounds players or shit

  last but not least
html5 is not a substitute for flash in all ways but pure pixel video playing
so it would be meaningless to create something like a /html5/ and also way to unsecure (yes even
  more than flash OMG VIRUZZZ)

We can be certain they aren't telling us the full story. It's either an unfixable secret exploit,
performance issues on mobile devices, or a bribes from big corps like Apple to reduce
competition, in order of least to most likely.

Windows 7 with offline flash installer for IE11, using Edge for active internet browsing but
opens all flash in IE which isn't affected by any "countdown" here. Super Comfy.

I will obviously not be able to get the thing completely de-compiled to source on my own
But I will split the code up into separate modules, identify and factor out third party
libraries, integrate the open source action script virtual machine. Once the different functional
units have been identified then their exact behavior can be more easily studied for a more exact
  recreation.

Does anyone know how to extract the .swf file from here correctly? When I try to do it I only get
