[_] Opening swfs in 2021 Anonymous 11/01/21(Mon)09:31:47 No.3475319
Hello /f/, I haven't visited this place in like 2 years, what's the status of browsing swfs both
offline and in-browser in 2021-almost-2022?
I vaguely remember hearing there was a project to replace the flash browser plugin which was axed
by every major browser but last I heard it was still very early in development and quite buggy
and resource intensive.
So yeah, what do if I wanna view my beloved swfs?

Offline: Use adobe's projector.
https://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/debug_downloads.html
Online: Use a browser that supports NPAPI (like Pale Moon or Basilisk) with the haxed flash
plugin.

The "project to replace the flash browser plugin" you heard about was probably ruffle, which is
still under development.

I recommend Adobe's Projector. It's as easy as copying the file's link, CTRL+O in the Projector,
CTRL+V that bitch and enter.

short and exactly on point

I bet you could write a script for that

Why not lightspark
or why not replace .swf to animated SVG?

only reason you'd do that is for the preloader to work.
but since most flashes download so fast these days you could just left-click the link in your
browser and "open" the swf in your default program (which should be the projector). the swf file
will download to %temp% and open in the projector. saves a little time compared to opening the
projector and pasting the link.

Because that wasn't the question.

It saves into my standard Downloads folder rather than my in my %temp% folder. However, changing
that would actually be of great benefit for me now that I think about it.
