Firefox has started to force-download swf files by default without asking if you want to open
them, but you can change that so you can still open in Adobe's projector player directly:

Tools > Settings > scroll down to Appications > Search (filter) "swf" > Change Action from "Save
  File" to "Always ask"

Also surf to about:config and Search (filter) on "alwaysopenpanel" and change it to false. Gets
rid of the download panel opening every time a download completes.

Mozilla keeps making some strange changes to their browser that I wonder who asked for.

firefox can't play flash, im talking about getting the "do you want to save or open this file?"
dialog that you get when clicking a link that leads to a .swf file.
you can choose to "open" a .swf file instead of saving it, then firefox downloads the file to a
temporary location and launches it in adobe's offline flash projector (or whatever else program
that you have set to open the .swf extension locally on your computer).
it just saves some time in skipping 1 or 2 steps that you otherwise have to do manually (save as
dialog + actually opening the flash file).

press left Alt on your keyboard to see the top browser bar, then
Tools > Settings and scroll down to Applications

that JavaScript error in your screenshot seems to be something related to 4chan's Gold Pass that
people can buy to skip captcha, it isn't related to what I'm talking about

  >Mozilla keeps making some strange changes to their browser that I wonder who asked for.
Apple then Google and more recently Microsoft have had "app stores" for a long time 99% of whats
there is the type of stuff you would see on a flash site 10 - 20 years ago hence their vendetta

did you know that Adobe made an "app store" for flashes?
yep, that existed. they just made it way, waaay too late. i think it was in 2013. made them no
money so they shut it down just after a half year or something. i think that's when Adobe finally
understood that they had mismanaged flash so much that it was time to abandon it.
imagine if they had made that thing in 2008 during the peak of the flash era.

  >that they had mismanaged flash
  >imagine if they had made that thing in 2008 during the peak of the flash era
I don't even want to imagine.
What a shitty world where mismanaging something means having people share created art for free
without pressing every penny out of them for basically no equivalent return.
It's not even like their monopoly over the earlier internet hasn't made them tons of cash one way
or the other. And it's not even like they put all that much effort into stabilizing the flash
  format at all.
  >Hey this shit nobody of us cares about made us tons of money and people love it. But it's not
creating as much money these days as we'd like, so let's make it literally unusable by 99% of the
  population.
  God, I hate humans.

hey, you oughta be thankful, they gatekept the format for us. we're probably the only board
anymore that's completely free of tourists by default. those who give a shit about the format can
still create with/view it, those who don't fucked off to the newest trend.
