in this I actually converted it from .mp4 into an .flv on an online site. I didn't just import it
from an .mp4 into flash so I have no idea why it's not working. It works for me (embeded).

i assume ruffle relies on the browser's built-in capabilities to decode video, which may be
accelerated by the graphics card. so ruffle flash is not exactly the same across platforms like
plugin flash was.

do yourself a favor and use the swfchan video converter tools (swiff army knife) for conversions
to flv
not that it's neccessary, but online converters tend to be really shitty and incoherent for usage
with swiff knife you can even pine for a very precise filesize of the flv
