Hope it's temporary and not just for me. Someone else uploaded a swf a little over 30 minutes ago. >> [_] Anon 3449903 >># ok was able to post something. wonder what was wrong before. >> [_] Anon 3449914 >># probably size, sometimes it gives me a blank page if I try to upload something too close to the 10mb mark...

File: Bye-Bye f.swf-(8.26 MB, 1280x719, Anime) [_] We had a bit of a scare today Anon 3406689 But we're back, so I made this. Thanks to the lads for assistance/input. Any alterations/suggestions lemme know, open to making edits. >> [_] Anon 3406690 Don't fucking play with my heart like that (it's perfect) >> [_] Anon 3406691 Make it dickbutt. >> [_] Anon 3406692 Problem here is that we still haven't heard from a 4chan mod or Hiro about what exactly happened and if there are any plans at all for /f/'s future. Still, nice edit, I don't watch anime much but I'm guessing the original is pretty sad, given how much feels this edit gave me >> [_] Anon 3406694 >># Yeah that's the part I wasn't sure on. I don't follow the technical side of why /f/ is dying, so when that's elucidated I'll remake it to be accurate. Original is pretty heart-wrenching. The setting is that long ago a group of people sealed magic into one container, Magiaconatus, and every so often, mages had to gather to fight to determine who's worthy of controlling the whole world's magic and making a wish. Black haired girl represented by Hiro always dreamed of a world without magic because it only causes pain and suffering, and Magiaconatus was drawn to this because it's the same reason why magic was sealed in the first place. The black haired girl also strongly wished for a friend. So, Magiaconatus created the pink haired girl to be her friend, but we don't find out until halfway through (she was the main character) that she's not a real person, just a doll born from the black haired girl's heart. The conflict was that the wish to remove all magic would also remove the pink haired girl as she was created from magic. This scene was pink haired girl's way of saying goodbye to everyone. It's not very entry level, but for a 12 episode show, it's good if you like suffering. Because it had a lot of suffering. >> [_] Anon 3406696 The fuck did I miss? I know adobe isn't supporting flash anymore, but what did Hiro say/do that has everyone freaked out? >> [_] Anon 3406697 >># Could upload flashes, but not download/play them, they'd 404. >>>/qa/3004168 >> [_] Anon 3406706 literal tears. thanks OP >> [_] El Bumpo !!WfeXfYY1Xq2 3406717 Thanks OP, I was scared too, but thank the heavens /f/ is still with us. I can't think of a world without this wonderful board and its people. Perhaps we could set up a discord and keep in touch that way, in case /f/ dies. Oh god I don't want this to end ;_; >> [_] Anon 3406718 >># wut >> [_] Anon 3406748 >># sauce me the anime >> [_] Anon 3406766 >># Granbelm >> [_] Anon 3406770 >># good job, right in the feels /f/ should stay up forever for historical reasons. if almost nobody uses it it doesn't drain any bandwidth anyway. i'm willing to bet that today /aco/ drains minimum 100 times more bandwidth than /f/ even though that board has a max filesize of 4 MiB. in 5 years it'll probably be 1000 times more. is bandwidth even an argument these days anyway, with cloudflare? even if files 404 a lot and 4chan need to redistribute new files to cloudflare it is still cloudflare that takes 99% of the bandwidth requirements. and as far as i know they do it for free... i still don't understand what's the point of limiting files to 2 MiB on /b/ when they are using cloudflare, it really can't be doing much to save money >> [_] Anon 3406773 >># I would assume the relationship with cloudflare is not as buddy-buddy as you could guess. As an observation, the is2.4chan.org (original res images) is served (to me) by OVH, not cloudflare. >> [_] Anon 3406778 >># ok i guess things have changed then, probably for the best since cloudflare's business model might be to spy on user activity (they gotta make money somehow) let's have a quick look at https://www.ovh.com/world/dedicated-serv ers/ >Included with your dedicated server >Bandwidth and unlimited traffic >Incoming and outgoing traffic is unlimited and free (with the exception of our datacentres located in Asia Pacific). on 4chan's front page it currently says "Active Content: 1082 GB" OVH offers this dedicated server for 106 bucks per month: >Infra-1 >Intel Xeon-E 2274G >4 cores / 8 threads - 4 GHz >32 GB DDR4 ECC >2×960 GB SSD NVMe >Public network: 1 Gbps 1920 GB is probably more than enough to cover both active content and html pages + database entries. 12 TB of disk space can be added for an extra 37 USD per month. 1 Gbps is probably more than enough to send image files to people. it even says it also allows for 2 Gbps for short bursts so even if everybody would request an image at the same time the request would clear quickly. people using 4chan pull files from "28 datacentres around the world" (according to the URL above) so each request won't occupy server resources for long. if it was 1 Gbps for the whole world it's one thing but it's 1 Gbps from each of the 28 locations. so looks like bandwidth is no problem what so ever and even if "Infrastructure Dedicated Servers" at 106 USD/month is not enough the "HG Dedicated Servers" are only 253 USD/month. sure it's not super cheap but 4chan passes and ads easily cover 253/month, probably several times over. bottom line is bandwidth is still a non-issue these days |
